The function of certain website elements is explained here.

Main text

The upper middle is the "Main text" part of the website. You can see the header, the menu below it with the buttons "Info" and "Filters", and the text part. The info page shows all the information about the site. The filter page explains how to add custom layers with your own filters, this is also the page where you can set those filters.

So on the right you are able to create your own layers by setting some filters. You can set a start and end date which will only render datasets measured between those dates. You can also select a specific user and dataset from that user, maybe you measured your own dataset and this way you can create a layer with only your set. You can even select a Wireless Leiden node measured within that set. To maintain a good overview, you can set your own layername and colour. By pressing the "Add filter" button, your freshly created layer will be added to the map and layer switcher, together with the chosen name and colour.

Map

The map-like part of the image is (ofcourse) the map. There are some red and grey dots visible. These dots represent the measured accespoints at that position. The size and density of the dot represent the measured strength, so a larger full red dot means a better signal than a small see-through dot. The colour of the dots correspond with the colour showing next to their names on the layer switcher. This should improve usability when looking for a certain layer.

Layer Switcher

The layer switcher on the right is a custom one, replacing the standard Open Layers switcher. The perks of this custom one, is that it can be customized. It has some basic features like showing the existing layers and toggling them on or off, but each layer also has a colourbox next to it, and a remove button (the 'X' behind each layer).

Also, there are now four categories. Notice that the categories "User" and "Node" have a link next to it, "Add all users" and "Add all nodes". When clicked, they will generate a single layer for every user or node, with a different random colour for each. Apart from the "Default layers" category where all the default layers will appear, there is a "Custom" category where all you customized layers will appear once you've made them.

Nodelist

The nodelist on the bottom left shows a list of available nodes at the position where you clicked with your mouse. This can come in handy when you have a lot of layers enabled, and you want to know if there are any nodes at that position. Or maybe you only have the basic layers enabled but want a quick look at the available nodes at a certain location.

Slider

The slider on the bottom is linked to the "Signal strength" layer. Say you move the slider's values to 50-75, the yellow layer will only show points measured within that specific signal range. Note that this layer is a standard layer and cannot be removed, however it can be disabled by unchecking it in the layer switcher.
