Collecting data
There are several ways to collect data which can be used for the heatmap application. Right now, Kismet's 'netxml' and 'gpsxml' are supported, as is Droidstumbler's csv output.
Data can be gathered using smartphones with gps or a notebook/netbook with gps dongle. An example is the use of an EeePC with a Sweex usb-wifi-adapter and Haicom usb-gps-adapter (mouse), see the pictures. Software used: Ubuntu with gpsd and kismet.
For use of an 'Android' smartphone or tablet: install the app 'DroidStumbler' that can be downloaded from http://svn.wirelessleiden.nl/svn/code/DroidStumbler/release/DroidStumbler.apk . Requires Android 2.2+ .

Where to save
You can save your data to: http://webfolder.wirelessleiden.nl/scan-data/<your name>/<your device>/<YYYY-MM>/<file>
So for example: http://webfolder.wirelessleiden.nl/scan-data/rick/kismet-setup-1/2011-05/Kismet-20110510-13-18-32-1.netxml.gz
