Wireless Leiden has for some time been working on improving the quality of the network.
We are working on:
- new software at the nodes,
- improving monitoring and statistics,
- new hardware configurations,
- improved internet 'gateways'.
Ultimately, after completion of this upgrade the network will function much better with faster and more reliable connections. We try to keep the network up during these changes, but disruptions are innevitable. We ask for our users understanding. Extra disrupting is the closing of Joost Technologies Leiden office (where our monitoring server was hosted, we are looking for a new location).
By the way we have a chronic shortage of volunteers......
During the past weeks we have carried out a number of projects, such as:
- testing new node-software, especially routing
- testing new proxy-software
- testing new hardware (several 'wireless ethernet bridges') in cooperation with Hogeschool Leiden
- diverse nodebuilding and revamp projects
