Project "Breedband" in the week, starting with May 31

After the upgrade of the nodes Vosko (Pieterskerk) had been finished on May 30, our volunteers have upgraded the nodes on the roof of the Rabobank. Next in line for an upgrade according to our IRIS concept were the two nodes on the flat at the Lijtweg in Oegstgeest. Later in this week the nodes IMI and Rustenborch have been upgraded.

Project "Breedband" in the week, starting May 23

The first node that has been upgraded according to the IRIS concept in the week, starting May 23 is Haagwijk. Next in the row have been RijnVliet and Som. And finally the three nodes in the Merenwijk (Broekplein, Rosmolen and Regenboog) have been upgraded according to the IRIS concept in this week.

Node-upgrades in full swing! Update week of May 17, 2010

Our project "Breedband", in which all our nodes (starting with the "backbone" of the network) receive an upgrade of the hardware and the software in accordance with our "IRIS-concept" is now in full swing. Recently the node Robijn has been upgraded to an IRIS node. This week our node Cope has been upgraded to an IRIS-node. Also node Graficall has successfully been up-graded. At the end of the week the nodes Roomburgh and JVC were successfully converted to IRIS nodes.

CeTIM back in the air

Node CeTIM (Hooglandse Kerk), that was out of the air due to intensive renovation works, is back in the air since Saturday afternoon, May 8, 2010. The access points are now called ap-WirelessLeiden-CeTIM 1 and 2. All interlinksc of this node are now compliant with 802.11a, and they only work to nodes that also have been upgraded to 802.11a. That operation will gradually be realized during the coming months. But because proxy2.wleiden.net is also located in the Hooglandse Kerk, the internet can be accessed via the renewed node CeTIM.

CeTIM temporarily out of the air

We published on this site before that Wireless Leiden is in the middle of a large operation to upgrade the "backbone" of the network. Last Saturday (May 1, 2010) our node CeTIM (Hooglandse Kerk) was under reconstruction the whole day. The work in the tower of this church did not go as fast as we expected, due to unforeseen extra construction problems. Therefore the job could not be completed before the church had to be closed.
